Memorial to the Berry family in Berrynarbour Church. Alleged ancestors of the Berrys of Sandford. There are suggestions that Berrynarbour was land granted to a Berrie or Burie who accompanied the Conqueror or arrived later. There is no Berry listed in the two volume The Conqueror and his Companions*. The earliest Berrynarbour Berry I have been able to find is Wilhelmus Berry born there in about 1160. The Berrys owned Berrynarbour land until 1708.
